Meine Lieben! Hoffentlich seid Ihr alle gesund & ist alles in bester Ordnung, auch bei uns geht es gesundheitlich G.s.d. [Gottseidank] gut. Grund unseres heutigen Schreibens ist, wir sind in sehr großer Sorge, da wir gar nichts von Chicago hören, den letzten Brief, wo wir hatten, war von 24 März & könnt Ihr Euch meine Lieben denken, mit welcher Sehnsucht [wir] auf Brief warten. L. Luzie ich bitte dich herzlich uns zu schreiben, ob irgend ein Grund vorliegt, weil wir nichts hören, ich nehme doch an, daß Du orientiert bist. Das Ungewiße & das Warten ist schrecklich, es sind heute hier Briefe von 17. Mai angekommen & ich kann mir gar nicht denken, daß Lieselotte nicht schreiben soll. Hoffentlich ist doch alles in Ordnung, auch mit l. Jenny. Von l. Else & Paula hatten wir auch Brief vom 12 Mai & schreiben Sie auch …

daß Sie bereits 3 Briefe nach Ch. [Chicago] geschrieben hätten aber keine Antwort bekommen, daher auch Dir l. Luzie, da scheint doch etwas nicht zu stimmen, also bitte, bitte Aufklärung. Hat Euch Herr Frohmann schon besucht? Und werdet Ihr ja alles Nähere erfahren haben. Wegen der Bürgschaft erwähne [ich] heute nichts, da es mir hauptsächlich um das Wohl von l. Lieselotte ist. Alles andere Wissenswerte werdet Ihr ja von Eurer l. Mutter erfahren & jetzt ganz bald zusätzlich von Tante Mina. Am Samstag habe [ich] Klara gesprochen. Es geht ihr gut & sieht sehr gut aus. Frieda & Julius Kahn sind am 3 Juni aufs Schiff & werden bis dieser Brief bei Euch ist auch drüben sein. Ohne mehr für heute als noch ganzl.[liebe] Grüße & Küsse & vielen Dank Eure Tante Settchen.

My dear ones! Hopefully you are all healthy and everything is fine. We are also in good health, thank God. The reason we are writing today is that we are very worried because we have not heard anything from Chicago. The last letter we had was dated March 24. You can imagine, my dear ones, with what longing we are waiting for a letter. Dear Luzie, I sincerely ask you to write to us if there is any reason why we do not hear from you. I assume that you are oriented. The uncertainty and the waiting is terrible. Letters arrived here today from May 17 and I cannot imagine that Lieselotte should not write. I hope everything is all right, even with you, dear Jenny. We also had a letter from dear Else and Paula dated May 12, and they are writing …

… that they had already written 3 letters to Chicago, but had not received an answer. Therefore also to you, dear Luzie: there seems to be something wrong, so please, please clarification! Has Mr. Frohmann already visited you? You will have heard all closer details from him. I won’t mention anything today about the guarantee, as I am mainly concerned about the well-being of dear Lieselotte. You will learn everything else worth knowing from your dear mother and now, very soon, also from Aunt Mina. On Saturday I spoke with Klara. She is doing well and looks very well. Frieda and Julius Kahn left for the ship on June 3 and will also be over there by the time this letter reaches you.
