Unserer lieben Lieselotte zum 18ten Geburtstag. 

Da leider unser Ozeanriese 
Zur Ueberfahrt noch nicht an Land 
So seien diese Glückwunschgrüsse
Dir zum Geburtstag zugesandt 
Wir gingen lang mit uns zu Rat 
Und kamen zu dem Resultat
Uns poesievoll mal zu zeigen 
Kurz: auf den Pegasus zu steigen.

Mein liebes Kind! bei deiner Tante 
Bist du gewiss in sich’rer Hut
Und sparst du auf die hohe Kante 
Passt dies in Zukunftspläne gut
Hast du erst ’nen gewissen Zins 
Kommt schon der rechte Dollarprinz. 

Du bist ja gross und schlank figürlich 
Und treibst wie früher eifrig Sport 
Da ist es praktisch ganz natürlich 
Auch du schlägst einmal den Rekord 
Dann wirst du uns’re Stütze werden 
Dass alles gleicht sich aus auf Erden. 

Liegt auch Chicago in der Ferne 
Einmal erreicht die Post ihr Ziel 
Das alte Lied, man tanzt so gerne 
Man geht gern aus und putzt sich viel 
Possieren macht auch große Freud‘
Da bleibt zum Schreiben wenig Zeit.

Zu uns’rer Freude sei’s bekräftigt
Wir sind sehr stolz und bau’n auf dich
Sind glücklich dass du gut beschäftigt
Bleib weiter lebensfroh und frisch
Sei dankbar deiner guten Tante
Vergiss auch nicht die Anverwandte.

Um nun das Tema zu berühren
Den Zweck der Versenschmiederei
Lass dir recht herzlich gratulieren
Und denk‘ wir seien mit dabei
Zu Deinem nächsten Wiegenfeste
Sind wir, so Gott will, Ehrengäste.

Und nun zum Schlusse aller Schlüsse
Bleib uns gesund und schick‘ nen Brief 
Empfange 100000 Küsse 
(Wie hoch kommt dort wohl der Tarif?) 
Grüss‘ alle die dir immer nah‘

Since unfortunately our ocean liner 
For the crossing not yet landed 
So these congratulatory greetings
To you on your birthday sent 
We went long with us to council 
And came to the result
To show ourselves poetically 
So: to climb the Pegasus.

My dear child! With your Aunt 
You’ll be safe and well protected
And you’ll save extra cash 
This fits in well with future plans
Once you’ve got some profit 
The right dollar prince is coming. 

You are tall and slim in figure 
And you exercise like before 
So it’s almost all natural 
You’ll beat the next record 
Then you’ll be our pillar of support 
That all things balance out on earth. 

Is Chicago in the distance too 
Once the mail reaches its place 
The ancient song one loves to dance 
One likes getting out and dressing up 
Posing is a great pleasure, too
So there is little time for writing.

To our pleasure let it be affirmed
We’re so proud of you and count on you
We are happy that you are well employed
Keep on cheerful and stay fresh
Be grateful to your good Aunt
But do not forget your relatives.

Now touching on the subject
The purpose of the verses
Let us heartily congratulate you
And think that we are with you
To your next birth anniversary
We shall be, God willing, honored guests.

Now for the closing of all conclusions
Be healthy and send us a letter 
And receive 100,000 kisses
